On The Mend

We are both better, but tired. The antibiotics and steroids are working and I was able to drive in to town and pick up a grocery order so we have what we need for the foreseeable future. I’ve got a couple of things to prepare for the big freezer but it will wait until later.Continue reading “On The Mend”

Spring Is Almost Here

March 20 is the first day of Spring and things are greening up around here. Now that the last pine tree is down the iris get more sunlight. I still need to divide those plants and I’d like to move some of them to the other side of the house in a new flower bed.Continue reading “Spring Is Almost Here”

Productive Day

After our chiropractic visit this afternoon…we’ve switched to afternoons instead of mornings…we stopped at our local Home Depot for a couple of things. We found what we need to replace the old line on the clothesline poles and we decided on a deep freeze for the garage. We found a 20 cu ft Frigidaire thatContinue reading “Productive Day”

Texas Weather, Ugh

It’s 78° outside and humid enough to drown frogs! It’s awful. I’ve been to Houston a couple of times in my life and Puerto Rico once and it’s almost that bad here today. Which means there is a front headed our way with thunderstorms tomorrow most likely. Good thing we have a good A/C system.Continue reading “Texas Weather, Ugh”

Good Day To Spin

I’ve been spinning on and off this afternoon and went from 2.5 ounces to 3.0 ounces before taking a break… …and stopped at 5 pm with 3.5 ounces on the bobbin. This leaves me with half an ounce to finish this bobbin, put it beside the first bobbin on my lazy kate and start plyingContinue reading “Good Day To Spin”

It’s Adding Up

You are looking at another 48.56 pounds of spinning fiber. I weighed the contents of one basket, no problem. I weighed the other basket including the contents and then weighed the basket and subtracted the difference. Same with the plastic bin. A lot more there than it appeared to me at the outset. The lighterContinue reading “It’s Adding Up”

Snow, At Last

I stayed home this morning but Brad went on to the chiropractor and picked up the mail and lunch for the two of us. My herb and spice order from Simply Organic arrived. Does this look like $60 worth of herbs and spices to you? Prices are becoming ridiculous but at least these are goodContinue reading “Snow, At Last”

Winter Storm

It’s 42° and raining this morning. The temps will remain in the 40’s most of the day and begin to drop into the mid 30’s later this afternoon, staying above freezing as the snow moves in. Our weather guy says not to let the above freezing temps lull us and to stay home if possibleContinue reading “Winter Storm”

Soup, At Last

I got the Black Bean Soup started and simmering about 3:30 yesterday afternoon and took it off the burner at 6 pm after enough of the broth had reduced. I froze half of it and put the other half in the fridge. We had a late lunch that was very filling and we only hadContinue reading “Soup, At Last”

One, More, Pair…

I’ve been working on the pair of lacy socks. I love the simple pattern and all, but it’s slow going and my wrists hurt after about an hour of knitting. I’ve added another inch to the cuff but needed a break and I really, really want to work on another pair of simple, stocking stitchContinue reading “One, More, Pair…”
