Blocked, Ready to Wear

This is a very comfy shawl, soft and drapes well. It’s great to have a finished project out of my own hand-spun yarn. I’m ready for cooler fall weather when it arrives. In the meantime, it’s 100° outside and 73° in the house. We have the ceiling fans running so it’s nice and cool inside.Continue reading “Blocked, Ready to Wear”

Finished Ludlow Shawl

I cast off the shawl yesterday evening and put it in to soak this afternoon. It is currently pinned out on the blocking mats drying on the bed under the ceiling fan . I’ll get another photo after it’s dry. Pinned out it is 72″ across the top edge and 33″ deep from the topContinue reading “Finished Ludlow Shawl”

Only Eighty Rows…

I’m finished with the green yarn and I have eighty rows left of the purple before I need to wind off some of the newly dyed yarn for the border. So far so good and I’m very happy with this project. It was 102° outside this afternoon but a comfortable 74° in the house. WeContinue reading “Only Eighty Rows…”

Like I Need More Cotton Yarn…

This is my coned cotton stash…about two dozen cones on one shelf. This is the last order of cotton yarn I got in the mail from Walmart a couple of weeks ago. So, I really hadn’t planned on ordering more yarn. And, yet I did. It’s at the post office and I can pick itContinue reading “Like I Need More Cotton Yarn…”

It Was A Dark And Stormy Night…

We were both enjoying a good night’s sleep when CRASH! BOOM! CRACK! The whole house shook from a lightening strike east of us. Yep. That got our attention. And was repeated at irregular intervals for over an hour. Fortunately we never lost power. Needless to say, we had a late morning. The sky is partlyContinue reading “It Was A Dark And Stormy Night…”

Project Finished

The last hand towel is finished. It seems I missed my row count on the blue one and the tab at the top is a few rows shorter than on the other two. It’s not enough of a problem to take it out and redo it. The blue yarn is a tad thinner than theContinue reading “Project Finished”

Back to Spring Weather

We’ve had a front come through our area in NE Texas and it’s now in the 60’s after being in the 90’s for over a week. Tonight it will be in the mid 50’s. Now that’s more like it! Brad made a run to town for take away from Frank & Lola’s Bohemian Tacos. TheirContinue reading “Back to Spring Weather”

More Hand Towels

The first hand towel that I knitted with this pattern was white with yellow and blue stripes. I decided to do a yellow one and blue one as well and add them to the dishcloths for Audrey’s kitchen. I have plenty of yarn to work with. These towels will have the fold-over tab and aContinue reading “More Hand Towels”

Aftermath of the Storm

We had some severe weather last night and the storm warning lasted until 1:00 am. There were folks without power, tree limbs down, hail damage all around us but we weathered it well. I took this photo a couple of hours before the storm hit, trying to get a good shot of the setting sunContinue reading “Aftermath of the Storm”

Grateful For Our Blessings

Our Texas weather still thinks it’s summer with temps in the 90’s for some days to come. Small discomfort since our home is cool and dry. All is well at the family farm. Hava and Magen have settled in, although they wake in the middle of the night, as does baby Gabriel when he hearsContinue reading “Grateful For Our Blessings”
