Spring Is Almost Here

March 20 is the first day of Spring and things are greening up around here. Now that the last pine tree is down the iris get more sunlight. I still need to divide those plants and I’d like to move some of them to the other side of the house in a new flower bed.

The Winged Elm trees along the fence are leafing out and the solitary Redbud is in full bloom.

I’ve chosen the next yarn for the cowl and wound what’s left of the yarn I’m working with onto the other cake of yarn. I’m enjoying working on this project and got a good bit done today while we were in town running errands. Brad drives. I knit. We had our chiropractic adjustments, put fuel in the SUV, had lunch from Panera and Brad found a garden hose rack at Home Depot while I sat in the car and worked on my knitting.

We watched the second and third episodes of Season One of Beyond Paradise this afternoon. I just happened to check Britbox to see if anything new was on. It’s a good show and we look forward to the next episode coming out. I’ve got Midsomer Murders streaming on Pluto TV now. A much younger Hugh Bonneville is in this episode, Ring Out Your Dead, along with Adrian Scarborough, Graham Crowden, Gemma Jones and Clare Holman. It’s one of our favorites.

Brad is off to bed, the dishwasher is running, it’s time for me to have a shower and get to bed. Hope your day has been as blessed as ours.

I am a Native Texan, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Catholic Convert residing in rural North East Texas since 1975 when I married my husband and this small town girl became a country girl. I was taught to knit at the age of ten and discovered the writings of Elizabeth Zimmerman shortly after I married. I learned to ‘unvent’ things as I went along, to create my own patterns and generally have a blast with yarn and needles. In the mid 1980’s I explored the idea of spinning my own yarn and eventually got interested in weaving on a floor loom. I have three spinning wheels and a 24″ four-shaft Herald floor loom that I purchased from a friend in the 1990’s. I also enjoy sewing, tatting and making rosaries. I have a work room that contains my fiber, yarn, floor loom, sewing machines, serger and rosary making supplies. I have a spinning corner in a bedroom next to my work room, both with north windows looking toward the creek.
