We’ve Had Enough Rain

I emptied the rain gauge this afternoon. We’ve had another 3.75 inches of rain since this time last week. There are puddles all over the yard and you have to watch where you step. A lot of it has run off but if we keep enjoying sunshine in the next few days it should dry up pretty soon. There are storms predicted for Saturday but it’s all east of us.

There’s not much I can enjoy doing in the way of pulling weeds around the iris plants, too wet, but I can work on getting the SUV cleaned up. The rain storm on Wednesday washed a lot of dirt off of it but as usual the back hatch and windshield are still very dirty. I’ll get the shop vac out and take my time and get the inside cleaned and wiped down with Armor All. It’s been much too long since I conditioned the leather seats and the dash. The weather should be perfect, the garage is clean, it shouldn’t take that long…much easier than detailing the inside of the Dodge Mini Van we gave Audrey! It was time for us to down size and they needed more passenger space.

After I get the interior clean I’ll take it to the car wash and get the outside squeaky clean. We have a good automated car wash in town that isn’t terribly expensive. I just sit in the car and ride thru the car wash. Easy peasy.

We enjoyed our fried egg muffins for breakfast along with a pot of coffee. Brad had to run a couple of errands in town and brought lunch home. We ate a bit late so we won’t be very hungry for dinner. I think probably a toasted English muffin and a cup of yogurt would be perfect, just enough for me to take my evening supplements.

I was on Twitter earlier and apparently Hanoi Jane has lost what’s left of her ever lovin mind and is calling for Pro Life politicians to be murdered! Oh. My. Word. Such hatred, such venom! Satan is alive and well and working overtime.

Speaking of which…tomorrow is the start of the St. Joseph Novena and I’ll get each day’s prayers in my email to start the day. I got the link off of a Twitter post yesterday. I can start off with Morning Prayer, Liturgy of the Hours and finish with the Novena; Angelus Prayer at noon; Evening Prayer, Liturgy of the Hours in the evening; Night Prayer, Liturgy of the Hours and my nightly rosary prayers before bedtime. Great way to sanctify the day and prepare for bed.

I hope your Friday has been as blessed as ours. As always, remember it’s RED Friday! Remember Everyone Deployed!

I am a Native Texan, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Catholic Convert residing in rural North East Texas since 1975 when I married my husband and this small town girl became a country girl. I was taught to knit at the age of ten and discovered the writings of Elizabeth Zimmerman shortly after I married. I learned to ‘unvent’ things as I went along, to create my own patterns and generally have a blast with yarn and needles. In the mid 1980’s I explored the idea of spinning my own yarn and eventually got interested in weaving on a floor loom. I have three spinning wheels and a 24″ four-shaft Herald floor loom that I purchased from a friend in the 1990’s. I also enjoy sewing, tatting and making rosaries. I have a work room that contains my fiber, yarn, floor loom, sewing machines, serger and rosary making supplies. I have a spinning corner in a bedroom next to my work room, both with north windows looking toward the creek.
