A Day Of Rest

The weekend is rapidly coming to a close and I’ve enjoyed the rest and relaxation. I didn’t even do any knitting today after finishing the Hitchhiker Shawl yesterday. I don’t usually do selfies…but I wanted a photo of the shawl so…

I used my cell phone and the auto click button that came with the table top stand. I’m still getting used to that and will try it on a spinning video at some point.

While digging through one of the baskets under the table next to my recliner I came across another UFO. I had forgotten about the other mini skein cowl that I started so that is something I can work on when I need a rest from the sock needles. I’ll work on Brad’s socks until it’s time for a shower and bed later. I was going to read another chapter in Vision of the Annointed but my Kobo reader won’t ‘wake up’ and I’m not sure what’s going on with that. The same thing happened yesterday and I plugged it in to charge, waited a bit, unplugged it and tried to turn it off again and it rebooted. I guess I’ll have to do the same thing again.

Yup. I plugged it in and pushed the power button and it woke up. I guess I’ll keep the power cord next to the recliner so I can wake the blooming thing up when it gets an attitude next time. Hmm. It seems I may have let the poor thing run completely down and now I need to leave it charging overnight. Sigh.

Anyway, I want to read another chapter in The Vision of the Annointed. As I’m reading it, written in the 1990’s, it sounds eerily similar to what’s going on today and it all started so very long ago. As Brad says, “The thing we learn from history is that we don’t learn from history.” And these days it’s all about erasing history and heritage and the people behind it are too stupid to realize that they’re just repeating the same crap that’s already happened and been proven NOT to work. Oh, well. You’ll have days like that…

On a totally unrelated topic: I was channel surfing cable TV channels earlier trying to find something to watch after having the TV off all day and happened to come across Fox News and saw Trey Gowdy. I just have one question. What’s up with Trey Gowdy’s hair anyway? You’d think someone would give him some tips about his appearance on camera. Weird.

Brad is showering and I’ll have my shower in a bit. He’s pretty tired. He had three of the grandchildren with him at church today and brought us sandwiches from Panera on his way home. He spent some time over on the rifle range now that it’s dry enough for him to drive through the pasture to get there and back. As he’s so fond of saying, “All this fresh air and sunshine is going to kill me.” I can identify with that at times.

I’ve switched over to Roku to find something to watch on streaming video while I knit. Have a blessed Sunday night, ya’ll. Lent will be upon us very soon and I’m looking forward to it.

I am a Native Texan, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Catholic Convert residing in rural North East Texas since 1975 when I married my husband and this small town girl became a country girl. I was taught to knit at the age of ten and discovered the writings of Elizabeth Zimmerman shortly after I married. I learned to ‘unvent’ things as I went along, to create my own patterns and generally have a blast with yarn and needles. In the mid 1980’s I explored the idea of spinning my own yarn and eventually got interested in weaving on a floor loom. I have three spinning wheels and a 24″ four-shaft Herald floor loom that I purchased from a friend in the 1990’s. I also enjoy sewing, tatting and making rosaries. I have a work room that contains my fiber, yarn, floor loom, sewing machines, serger and rosary making supplies. I have a spinning corner in a bedroom next to my work room, both with north windows looking toward the creek.
