Sunshine And Frost

The sun is over the tops of the trees, the frost is sparkling on the grass. It dipped into the mid 20’s during the night and is up to 28° at 8:30 am. We are back to more seasonable January weather with a chance of light rain in the morning and possible rain/snow mix later in the day Tuesday.

I’m keeping warm and toasty with my Hooplah socks this morning while I work on the Hitchhiker shawl/scarf. I’ll get to work on Brad’s socks after breakfast but I needed something easier on my eyes than dark brown yarn first thing in the morning.

The phone just rang and it was another Medicare scam call. I blocked the number. Brad is up and around and we should have coffee brewing shortly. We are stocked with yogurt and English muffins for breakfast or we could have hot oatmeal, whatever Brad wants is fine with me.

I’m going to make this a short post. My left knee is still bugging me, probably the pending weather change has something to do with it, and even with the cushioned laptop desk the weight of it is bothering my knee. Anyway, it’ll feel better after some food on my stomach and my morning vitamins/supplements and turmeric to help with the inflammation. But for now I’ll settle for getting the weight off my knee and making some progress with my knitting.

Have a blessed Monday, ya’ll.

I am a Native Texan, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Catholic Convert residing in rural North East Texas since 1975 when I married my husband and this small town girl became a country girl. I was taught to knit at the age of ten and discovered the writings of Elizabeth Zimmerman shortly after I married. I learned to ‘unvent’ things as I went along, to create my own patterns and generally have a blast with yarn and needles. In the mid 1980’s I explored the idea of spinning my own yarn and eventually got interested in weaving on a floor loom. I have three spinning wheels and a 24″ four-shaft Herald floor loom that I purchased from a friend in the 1990’s. I also enjoy sewing, tatting and making rosaries. I have a work room that contains my fiber, yarn, floor loom, sewing machines, serger and rosary making supplies. I have a spinning corner in a bedroom next to my work room, both with north windows looking toward the creek.
