Another Dreary Day

It’s in the low 50’s, overcast and a bit foggy this morning. All in all, another dreary day. We have errands to run later and it’s supposed to reach the high 60’s with a slight chance of rain but I doubt we’ll get much.

We will be picking up a few things today and making plans for our Christmas dinner here at home. Brad ordered gift baskets from Harry & David for family members yesterday so our shopping is done. He also ordered a couple of things for our Christmas.

Our TV service has been restored either sometime late last night or earlier this morning. That must have been a big problem to have lasted so long, but Sparklight usually gets things fixed pretty quickly.

The news this morning is all about Britner Griner being released from a Russian penal colony in exchange for a notorious Russian arms dealer and The Resident in the White House is going to speak about it sometime this morning. Oh, look! There he is now. Fox News is carrying his announcement. Why on earth I have the TV on Fox is beyond me, moving right along. I’m happy the girl is out of that awful situation and I hope she’s learned a valuable lesson.

Brad should be up shortly and he’ll start our morning coffee. This might be a good morning for hot cereal, or he might prefer an egg muffin. I’m seriously considering a hot shower even though I had one yesterday evening. My neck and shoulder would feel much better for it.

I sorted through some of my left-over fingering yarn yesterday and realized that I have quite a bit of several yarns that will work for a long scarf. By knitting a tubular scarf I can go through that yarn pretty quickly and use up bits and pieces but I’ll wait until after the first of the year to start that particular project. I’m hoping to finish the current cowl and the purple socks first.

It’s time to get a move on and make my bed and either get in the shower or get dressed. Brad should be up any minute so I’ll wait until he’s up and through in the bathroom if I decide to shower again. Maybe what I need is the heating pad. It’s plugged in and handy to both of our living room recliners so that might be the quicker option to loosen up stiff joints.

Even though it’s a dreary day I think it will be a good day for getting some things done. I just remembered something else we need to do when we’re out and about so I’d better start a list before I forget it! Have a blessed Thursday, ya’ll.

I am a Native Texan, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Catholic Convert residing in rural North East Texas since 1975 when I married my husband and this small town girl became a country girl. I was taught to knit at the age of ten and discovered the writings of Elizabeth Zimmerman shortly after I married. I learned to ‘unvent’ things as I went along, to create my own patterns and generally have a blast with yarn and needles. In the mid 1980’s I explored the idea of spinning my own yarn and eventually got interested in weaving on a floor loom. I have three spinning wheels and a 24″ four-shaft Herald floor loom that I purchased from a friend in the 1990’s. I also enjoy sewing, tatting and making rosaries. I have a work room that contains my fiber, yarn, floor loom, sewing machines, serger and rosary making supplies. I have a spinning corner in a bedroom next to my work room, both with north windows looking toward the creek.
