Bipolar Texas Weather

It was in the low 70’s yesterday, sunny and windy. By bedtime it was 42° and the wind was rattling the window screens. The low was 32° last night and it will stay below 50° today. This will be a great day to stay indoors and work on my knitting. I need to do something to loosen up my cranky knuckles and knitting can help with that as long as I don’t overdo it. I’ve got thirty ‘teeth’ on the Hitchhiker scarf, only 12 more ‘teeth’ to go, and I need to work on the purple sock ribbing.

It’s nice and snug in the house, we keep it at 66° at night and 70° during the day. Today will be a good day to do some cooking if what I took out of the freezer has thawed in the fridge overnight.

I keep seeing posts in one of my online groups about cooking with an Instapot so I looked around to see what was available. There were a couple of the smaller ones that I liked but it seems as though everything is made in China and I ain’t giving China any more of our money if I can help it. Oh, well. It was a thought.

I decided to log back on to Instagram to see what’s up. Short version…not much! I did connect with Jo Dee of Fishknit’s Yarn and her sister. I see them both on FB once in a while.

Twitter has been interesting and I’m glad I got back on their site. There are several interesting people to follow and I’m not seeing that much in the way of left-wing-loons like I did before. Big name companies are still pulling their ad bucks from Twitter including Apple. The thought is that Apple will likely drop their Twitter app and that spurred folks to suggest that Elon manufacture his own phone. Now wouldn’t that be a kick in the butt? A Tesla phone to go with the Tesla car?

Brad and I have Android phones but we don’t use the phones for social media. We prefer a web browser on our laptops for that. I know folks who do their blogging with their phones but I can’t see me getting into that. My old fingers prefer a keyboard and I can still type at a fairly good speed without too many typos. I hate texting on the phone except for short messages to Brad and Audrey and that isn’t even on a weekly basis.

It’s time to think about breakfast, hot cereal sounds good, Brad started the coffee. After breakfast I want to start a pot of soup and make sure I have what I need for cornbread to go with it. I have another load of laundry to do and then I will knit!

Have a blessed Wednesday, ya’ll. Stay warm!

I am a Native Texan, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Catholic Convert residing in rural North East Texas since 1975 when I married my husband and this small town girl became a country girl. I was taught to knit at the age of ten and discovered the writings of Elizabeth Zimmerman shortly after I married. I learned to ‘unvent’ things as I went along, to create my own patterns and generally have a blast with yarn and needles. In the mid 1980’s I explored the idea of spinning my own yarn and eventually got interested in weaving on a floor loom. I have three spinning wheels and a 24″ four-shaft Herald floor loom that I purchased from a friend in the 1990’s. I also enjoy sewing, tatting and making rosaries. I have a work room that contains my fiber, yarn, floor loom, sewing machines, serger and rosary making supplies. I have a spinning corner in a bedroom next to my work room, both with north windows looking toward the creek.
