Today is my day to spend with eleven year old Joshua who it seems is in need of a grandma fix. I can’t think of anything I’d rather do today. He is a joy to be around and we have plenty to do and I’m sure he’d like to pick out a favorite dvd from our collection to watch. And we might just drive over to the furniture store to pick up the sheets I ordered. The young man from Furniture Row called earlier and let me know they have arrived.
I worked on the purple socks yesterday, off and on, most of the day. I divided them onto two separate needles to finish the gusset increases and knit the heel flaps. I’m ready to turn the heel and start the heel flap on one sock already and it won’t take me long to be to the same point with the second sock.
I had asked Jo Dee if she had any more yarn on her Bootstrap base, BFL/Nylon, fingering yarn and she gave me a list of about a dozen different yarns, either semi-solids or kettle dyed. I left her a reply on FB that I would take all of the skeins she listed. That will keep me well supplied for some time with good quality sock yarn.
I can’t believe it’s so hot again this late in September so I’ll be limiting my time outdoors. It’s supposed to reach 100° on Saturday! In September! We don’t need anything from the grocery store anytime soon so I don’t need to worry with shopping for now. I want to do some baking and I need to put some chicken breasts on to cook later. Joshua could help me with that. All four of the older kids know how to prepare a meal. Their mom is good about teaching them to be self reliant and they work together very well.
They really were a Godsend for Brad on Monday when he was working on the gate at the farm. They saved him a ton of work and Rachel is very adept with the pliers and wire when it came to fastening the chicken wire to the metal gate. She crouched down on the ground and got the hard part done for her grandad. And the boys were a big help, too.
Guess I had better get in gear and be ready to pick Joshua up later. If the carpet shampooer has arrived at Home Depot Brad can pick it up. If it’s ready early enough he could drop it off at the farm and bring Joshua out here on his way back. We’ll see how that goes.
Have a blessed Wednesday, ya’ll. Stay cool and God bless.
