Interesting Development

I’m very definitely NOT going to use ribbing on the top of these socks. I gave it a try and it’s too difficult to see the purl stitches. So. Plain stocking stitch it is for the feet on this pair and I’ll just knit a couple of inches of ribbing at the top of the socks before I cast off.

The interesting development:

We saw our chiropractor this morning and I mentioned that my hips have been sore and achy since I got up this morning. We picked up take-away from CJ’s for lunch and came home to eat. Brad went back to town for a dentist appointment later in the afternoon and while he was gone I began to notice that both my shoulders were feeling sore and achy, as well as my neck. I got up out of the recliner to go into the kitchen for something and my legs didn’t just feel sore they felt weak. That’s when I had a ‘light bulb’ moment and thought to look up the side effects for the drug I recently started taking to lower my cholesterol, generic Lipitor. Bingo!

I contacted my doctor and mentioned all of this to her along with another symptom that I won’t go into here. She said to stop taking the medication. I replied that I had already started upping my antioxidant intake and would make sure I get plenty of fiber, green leafy veg and all the colorful veg that I can find, and enjoy anyway. I’ll stay away from fried food and fast food, Chick Fil A will have to wait a bit, and I’ll avoid sugar and carbs. We have plenty of lean red meat, chicken, and salmon fillets in the freezer as well as several packages of water packed tuna in the pantry. Who knows? I may be able to lower my cholesterol myself. I’ll contact Dr. Shawn at the Whole Body Healing Center in Lewisville and ask him to send me a bottle of homeopathic drops for liver and gall bladder support just to be on the safe side.

When doing my online research into what foods are best for a healthy liver I was thrilled to discover, on no less than three separate sites, that the number ONE thing listed was…drum roll please…coffee! I should probably try to do without the half and half and sugar though…just a thought.

Brad got a good result at the dentist this afternoon. He’s using a water pick now and it really made a difference. I have a water pick in my bathroom but I don’t think to use it often enough and need to start doing that. I had a Braun electric toothbrush that finally bit the dust and I switched to a Philips Sonicare which I like much better. When I switched from a manual toothbrush to the Braun decades ago my teeth brightened up a LOT. It’s even better with the Sonicare and the water pick keeps the tartar under control. When I use it.

It was another warm day, up to 95° this afternoon, and it’s now 91° after 6 pm. It’s still too humid to be doing anything much outdoors but at least there is a bit of a breeze today. Tomorrow I’ll catch up on laundry and housework. It’s time to change the sheets on both beds and get some dusting done in the bedrooms and my studio. Darned dust. The dust bunnies breed something awful in this house.

It’s time to decide on what we’ll do for dinner and then I’ll work on my shawl for a bit while we watch TV. I’ve had Midsomer Murders on streaming video on Pluto via Roku this afternoon. There isn’t much else to watch on TV lately. Have a blessed Monday evening, ya’ll.

I am a Native Texan, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Catholic Convert residing in rural North East Texas since 1975 when I married my husband and this small town girl became a country girl. I was taught to knit at the age of ten and discovered the writings of Elizabeth Zimmerman shortly after I married. I learned to ‘unvent’ things as I went along, to create my own patterns and generally have a blast with yarn and needles. In the mid 1980’s I explored the idea of spinning my own yarn and eventually got interested in weaving on a floor loom. I have three spinning wheels and a 24″ four-shaft Herald floor loom that I purchased from a friend in the 1990’s. I also enjoy sewing, tatting and making rosaries. I have a work room that contains my fiber, yarn, floor loom, sewing machines, serger and rosary making supplies. I have a spinning corner in a bedroom next to my work room, both with north windows looking toward the creek.
