It Was Only 106° Today

It wasn’t quite as hot today, just up to 106° and at 9:30 pm it’s 93°. We had overcast skies as evening came on, some thunder off in the distance, but as far as I know we haven’t had a drop of rain.

Hava got her muzzle off this morning and she has some sore spots where it rubbed the hair off so she is on antibiotic for a few days. I’m sure Audrey has just the thing to salve her sore nose and she should feel a lot better very soon.

Brad brought the boys out to visit after running errands in town on the way home from the farm. We had smoked brisket and sides for lunch. I don’t know how Audrey and David can afford to fill those boys up! And according to them their baby brother eats more than they do. Yeah. Right.

They stopped to pick up packages at the post office and the new mouse pad I ordered came in. I love it! It’s a bit larger than normal size but not too big. It’s thicker than normal and has a slicker finish that makes using the mouse a breeze. And it has the TARDIS on it. I think I have this same image as a screen saver or wallpaper saved on my laptop come to think of it.

I’ve managed fourteen decrease rows on the throw today and I like the way it’s coming along. I should manage to get a little more done on it before it’s time for bed. The only other thing I need to do before bedtime is tidy up the kitchen and load the dishwasher. I did two loads of laundry this morning while it was cooler and I’ll probably do the same thing tomorrow to avoid the heat.

Hope ya’ll have a blessed Wednesday night and some relief from the summer heat.

I am a Native Texan, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Catholic Convert residing in rural North East Texas since 1975 when I married my husband and this small town girl became a country girl. I was taught to knit at the age of ten and discovered the writings of Elizabeth Zimmerman shortly after I married. I learned to ‘unvent’ things as I went along, to create my own patterns and generally have a blast with yarn and needles. In the mid 1980’s I explored the idea of spinning my own yarn and eventually got interested in weaving on a floor loom. I have three spinning wheels and a 24″ four-shaft Herald floor loom that I purchased from a friend in the 1990’s. I also enjoy sewing, tatting and making rosaries. I have a work room that contains my fiber, yarn, floor loom, sewing machines, serger and rosary making supplies. I have a spinning corner in a bedroom next to my work room, both with north windows looking toward the creek.
