First thing in the morning Web Electric will be coming down our drive to begin installing our Generac 2400 generator, and about half an hour later our electric coop will be here to disconnect the power so that the generator can be connected to the house, then they’ll turn everything back on. Easy peasy. Then we will contact the propane company and let them know it’s time to install the propane to fuel the generator. All in all, nothing that several thousand dollars can’t fix. Sigh. But once it’s done, we’re set and ready for the next big storm or series of rolling blackouts.
Next week we take Hava in for the vet to see how she’s healing from the injury to her jaw, and a day or two later her sister Magen goes in for her well puppy check up and her shots. Poor Hava has been so miserable with the muzzle but she has finally calmed down. She tried to get Magen to help her get rid of the muzzle, Waya as well, but to no avail. They licked her and tried to comfort her but it was like, “Sorry, but it looks like you’re out of luck girl.” She’s a very active pup and to use the vet’s description, ‘very bouncy’. Yes. She is. She loves everyone at the clinic and as soon as she is picked up she gives her handler a thorough face wash. I can hardly wait until it’s time to take Magen in and see how she reacts. She’s not quite as bouncy as her sister, but she loves people, too.
It’s still very hot here, staying in the low 100’s through the middle of next week at least. Yuck. We need rain but there is none in sight for our area unless we manage to get a few drops off of a storm system that will be going through Oklahoma. I’m not holding my breath. It’s safe to say that there is no need for the mowing crew to come out until we’ve had some rain. No point. Nothing to mow! The grass has quit growing.
I cancelled my PT for today since I had trouble getting rid of a massive headache. Much better now. Didn’t need to be out in the heat and glare for sure. Brad brought home chopped brisket and sides for lunch. There is nothing else I need to do this afternoon so I might knit for awhile. Reading is out of the question since I don’t want the headache to flare up again. It’s all due to the arthritis in my neck and I walk a fine line with PT between getting tight muscles loosened up and being super sore after my sessions. But I’m making progress and not in constant pain any more.
My hand-spun throw/maybe shawl is coming along nicely and I should be getting close to the halfway point. I’m expecting the knotted join in the yarn to pop up pretty soon. I’ll do a split splice so there won’t be any weaving in of ends in the middle of the project.
I’ve been sitting at the laptop about long enough and don’t want to push my luck, so I’ll say “Have a blessed Thursday evening, ya’ll” and get back to my knitting.
