We Did It!

The prayers of a faithful people have been answered today on the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Roe vs Wade has been overturned. It is now up to the states to decide the question of abortion and at last count there are fourteen states that have outlawed abortion including Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas. Thank you, God. We are making progress.

My chiropractor’s receptionist unfriended me on FB earlier. She’s all LGBTQ and My body My choice and ProVax. I responded to one post: “It’s a baby’s body and apparently it has no choice.” When she shared a post from another friend that said, “If you’re celebrating today please unfriend me.” I responded, “Does this include you, Bradi?” Poof. She disappeared into thin air.

Our chiropractor is a wonderful, God fearing, prayerful Christian and makes no bones about his faith. How on earth that girl ended up working for him is beyond me. Oh, well. At least now I won’t have to keep clicking on ‘hide post’ for the crap she shares on FB. It will be interesting to see how she responds to me in person when I see Randy next week. So, to sum up: SHE unfriended ME because I am against murdering babies in the womb.

I dropped Brad off at the Ford dealership a couple of hours ago so he could pick up his F-150. It needed a LOT of work including gaskets, solenoid, and a vacuum pump among other things. It was leaking oil and radiator fluid. They pressure washed the whole underside of the truck, washed and detailed the outside and inside as well. He is thrilled. And on top of all of that, it was less than the original estimate and came in under $5,000.

He won’t have to worry about any of that again. It’s a once in the lifetime of the vehicle type stuff and when it’s done it’s good as new. It’s already getting better gas mileage and starts up quicker than it did before he had the work done. I’m happy for him. He doesn’t want to have to purchase a new pickup at this time.

It’s 102° outside. I’m still working on the Prayer shawl and it now measures 20″ square. I have enough yarn for a total of about 42″ in length and I’m eyeing some other hand-spun yarn in my stash that I can use to add borders onto both ends to lengthen it after I’ve finished the yarn I’m working with now. I’ve been enjoying “The Raven in the Foregate” Brother Cadfael novel on my Kobo while I knit.

I’ve got OANN on streaming video via Roku at the moment. Pelosi is in tears, visibly shaking at the podium for her press conference. Mad Maxine Waters has declared ‘to hell with the Supreme Court’ in her latest rant. Don Trump Jr. tweeted, “I haven’t seen democrats this mad since yesterday.” Yeah, that whole thing with the Supreme Court slapping down NY over trying to control where a licensed gun owner can carry a gun in their state was just yesterday. And il Donaldo Trumpo strikes again on Gab with a shot of the Supreme Court building and a suspicious cloud formation that looks an awful lot like The Donald, hair and all.

Gotta say, today has been one helluva day! And to top it off, Brad brought home a couple of pounds of chopped, smoked brisket and a pound of chopped, smoked turkey with sides. We froze part of it and had a good lunch and we might just have more of it for dinner! The detox has me craving red meat so, why not?

Have a wonderful RED Friday and Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, ya’ll.

I am a Native Texan, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Catholic Convert residing in rural North East Texas since 1975 when I married my husband and this small town girl became a country girl. I was taught to knit at the age of ten and discovered the writings of Elizabeth Zimmerman shortly after I married. I learned to ‘unvent’ things as I went along, to create my own patterns and generally have a blast with yarn and needles. In the mid 1980’s I explored the idea of spinning my own yarn and eventually got interested in weaving on a floor loom. I have three spinning wheels and a 24″ four-shaft Herald floor loom that I purchased from a friend in the 1990’s. I also enjoy sewing, tatting and making rosaries. I have a work room that contains my fiber, yarn, floor loom, sewing machines, serger and rosary making supplies. I have a spinning corner in a bedroom next to my work room, both with north windows looking toward the creek.
