Clean Air! No Howling Wind!

Finally! After a night of thunderstorms, over five inches of rain and flash flooding across the road and our property, we have a reasonable, cool breeze with sunny skies and fresh, clean air! It’s a bit too breezy to have both doors open but it makes a huge difference with the front door open. I lowered the top of the window in the living room to give us a little air circulation without sitting in a cool breeze.

We used to get this type of weather twice a year, every spring and fall, but that was forty years ago. We rarely have regular flash flooding anymore. We woke up to no cable TV or internet and it wasn’t until after 1:30 pm before we were back up with service. Thanks, Sparklight! I don’t envy the linemen being out long hours, getting us back up and running. We didn’t lose power so that was good.

It’s nice to have the house open and hear the birds chirping and the neighbor’s donkeys braying. You can’t help but smile when you hear them! They are just too funny.

I’ve started a gauge swatch with a size 3 needle and some left-over fingering yarn from my stash to get an idea of how much yarn I’ll need for a summer sweater and I’ve finished three more dishcloths for the box of stuff for Audrey. I really like the Lily Sugar & Creme yarn I’m working with now but when I checked online it seems that the two colors I like have been discontinued. I did find some of the larger supersize balls of their yarn in a denim blue and ordered several balls through the Walmart website.

I’ve gone almost completely through my box of individual balls of cotton yarn, knitting up a lot of them and giving Audrey and the girls quite a few. I’ve still got plenty of variegated yarns and some solids on cones but I’d like to stock up on more solids in basic colors.

Seems like Elon Musk has set the world on it’s ear with today’s news being that he will likely purchase Twitter. That should be interesting. I have a Twitter account but haven’t used it in ages. I follow some news and politics and that’s about it. Guess I’ll have to log on and see what’s up. In the meantime I’m eagerly awaiting Truth Social to be available for web browsing and Rumble.

I decided to delete all social media apps from my phone and just use it for calls, texts, and checking on my online orders and appointments. I don’t care for the format of most websites when trying to view them via my Samsung Galaxy phone. I have a great laptop anyway so I don’t really care about all that stuff on my phone.

The house is clean, beds made, dishwasher running, and all I have to do now is work on my knitting or read for a bit. I’ve started Lethal Agent, another Mitch Rapp novel.

ALERT!!! He did it! Elon bought Twitter! And he wants Trump back on and NO censorship. The market was going up before he even sealed the deal. He’s made money and he hasn’t even finished the purchase yet. The dude is something else. Go, Elon, go! The Left is losing their collective minds at the thought of no censorship on Twitter. Popcorn anyone? BREAKING: IT’S OFFICIAL!

I’m going to head over to Gab and Locals and check in on the news. Have a blessed Monday afternoon, ya’ll.

I am a Native Texan, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Catholic Convert residing in rural North East Texas since 1975 when I married my husband and this small town girl became a country girl. I was taught to knit at the age of ten and discovered the writings of Elizabeth Zimmerman shortly after I married. I learned to ‘unvent’ things as I went along, to create my own patterns and generally have a blast with yarn and needles. In the mid 1980’s I explored the idea of spinning my own yarn and eventually got interested in weaving on a floor loom. I have three spinning wheels and a 24″ four-shaft Herald floor loom that I purchased from a friend in the 1990’s. I also enjoy sewing, tatting and making rosaries. I have a work room that contains my fiber, yarn, floor loom, sewing machines, serger and rosary making supplies. I have a spinning corner in a bedroom next to my work room, both with north windows looking toward the creek.
