Trying To Be Creative

I’ve been thinking about my next project. I really need a summer weight cardigan. I’ve been through these bins several times and I don’t have enough of the same, or suitable yarn, for the project. I’ve thought about trying to combine different yarns but nothing really works for me so far and I’m determined NOT to buy more yarn for a project. Which leaves me with my only other alternative: spin some yarn for a summer cardigan.

I’m eyeing that pretty lavender colored wool fiber on the lower left of the bottom shelf. I have a pound of it to work with so that’s not a problem. But there are some nice wool/silk blend fibers to choose from as well, so now I need to go through some of the other bags of fiber.

The thing is, I’m really wanting a semi-solid, not a variegated or kettle dyed effect. Decisions, decisions. I guess I’ll mull it over a bit longer and continue with my unfinished knitting projects for now.

I’ve been wanting a better way to keep up with the three things I regularly need to recharge: Kobo, android phone, and Relief Band. I searched online and finally came up with a combination that will work.

There are three slots for USB cords on the surge protector and I can plug in the adapter that goes with my android phone. The cords are stored under the top of the box until I need them and I can charge all three at the same time with no problem. The plugs on the left connect to the surge protector and the cords on the right connect to the phone and the Kobo. The short USB cable that connects to the Relief Band is in the box. I have unplugged the desk lamp from the wall socket and plugged it into the far left socket on the surge protector so I have a place to plug in the vacuum when I’m cleaning.

I found both of these items on Amazon and they came shipped together. I looked on Etsy but didn’t like what I found so I went back to the Amazon website and found the bamboo box. So many of the charging stations listed online are much too big and are for charging multiple phones and tablets. The only thing Brad has to charge is his android phone and he has a dedicated wall outlet next to the bed for that, within easy reach and sight.

We are enjoying another sunny day, but the wind is keeping me indoors. It’s 63° and my allergies are in full gear with all the stuff the wind is kicking up. It’s not quite as bad as yesterday but we still haven’t put the flag back out.

I drove in to pick up our grocery order and take-away from C.J.’s Coffee Cafe for our lunch. Brad had the Taco Salad and I ordered their Tuna Salad Plate.

I didn’t see any reason to stop at the post office since Brad did that yesterday, but after I was back home I had an email message that a package was ready for pickup. I’ll get it tomorrow. I ordered a container of Brickhouse Field of Greens Wildberry that Dan Bongino advertises on his podcast. I need to lose weight and improve my diet and I’ve been meaning to give this product a try for some time. It’s made in the USA and headquartered in Hurst, Texas so I’m happy with that.

We had a pair of full grown Pyrenees dogs wandering around our property this morning. Brad first spied some deer across the creek through the woods, trotting west in single file then, right behind them, came the dogs trotting along. I don’t think those dogs would harm the deer, they were probably herding them! Anyway, I posted on a Facebook page for our rural area about the dogs in case someone knows who they belong to. They seemed lost, but maybe they just wandered away and were enjoying a morning out. They crisscrossed the yard several times and went over to the neighbors property south of us before coming back and disappearing across the creek to the north.

Brad is at the shop and is going to spend a little time on the 25 yard pistol range east of the shop. He has a bit of a wind break from the trees so it will be more enjoyable than using the rifle range and battling the wind.

We got our estimate for Income Tax from the CPA. We have to pay again this year. Sigh. At least we have the money and won’t be out of pocket. Gone are the days of us getting money back from the IRS. At least we can still afford to help out with expenses at the farm until the economy improves. This was going to be the year that Audrey was in the black with farm expense and income. Thanks a lot, Democraps! Libs ruin everything they touch.

There is nothing for me to do in the way of housework, all caught up and ready to spend some time with my knitting. I’ve got Midsomer Murders streaming on Pluto TV so I might as well get on with it. Have a blessed Friday evening, ya’ll.

I am a Native Texan, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Catholic Convert residing in rural North East Texas since 1975 when I married my husband and this small town girl became a country girl. I was taught to knit at the age of ten and discovered the writings of Elizabeth Zimmerman shortly after I married. I learned to ‘unvent’ things as I went along, to create my own patterns and generally have a blast with yarn and needles. In the mid 1980’s I explored the idea of spinning my own yarn and eventually got interested in weaving on a floor loom. I have three spinning wheels and a 24″ four-shaft Herald floor loom that I purchased from a friend in the 1990’s. I also enjoy sewing, tatting and making rosaries. I have a work room that contains my fiber, yarn, floor loom, sewing machines, serger and rosary making supplies. I have a spinning corner in a bedroom next to my work room, both with north windows looking toward the creek.
