Where Did March Go?

I happened to glance at the calendar on the wall in the living room and realized…we are almost out of month again. Wow. There goes March! Easter Sunday will arrive before we know it. I think it’s on April 17th this year.

It was pretty windy again today so I stayed in the house except to walk down to the shop and ask Brad if he was ready for some lunch. The temps started dropping around 4 pm and it will be back in the lower 40’s tonight. We are still dealing with that up and down Texas Spring weather and I hope we get some more rain soon.

Brad and I have been doing some house cleaning and he was an absolute jewel and vacuumed most of the house while I tidied up some clutter today.

Between the two of us we managed to clear off the top of the dining table last week. Most of it was stuff that he needed to go through. A lot of it ended up at the farm with Audrey and the rest of it is boxed up paperwork that he wants to keep.

It’s nice to be able to use the top of the dining table for folding laundry again. I’ve been using my bed to fold laundry for months. The table is at a better height for me. I can fold and stack towels for both baths and the kitchen and grab a stack as I go by to put things away. Same with Brad’s clothes. He can grab his on the way to his bedroom after I get it all folded. The dining room is the center of the house and we go thru it to get from one end of the house to the other.

I was on Facebook earlier and a post from Frank & Lola’s Bohemian Tacos popped up and I knew what I wanted for dinner. Brad called in the order and drove in to pick it up. We both had their brisket tacos on flour tortillas with roasted pineapple salsa. Oh. My. Word. Those are the best, juiciest, messiest tacos I’ve ever eaten. We love them. I especially like the pickled red onions they put on them. I have got to make my own pickled red onions to keep on hand. That would be a great sandwich or salad topping.

I’ve been working on my knitting and watching some of the Forged in Fire episodes today on History Channel. There is a new episode on now where the blade smiths have to search through a crushed car for metal to make their blades. Interesting.

I finished one of the cones of variegated blue cotton and got four more wash cloths to put in my stash, then grabbed a new cone of purple variegated yarn to start a set of cloths and hand towels for my bathroom. I like having plain knitting to work on while I read on my Kobo. I love to read, but I don’t get much of anything else done since I tend to lose track of time when reading. This way I’m multi-tasking and enjoying myself a lot.

When Forged in Fire goes off it will be time for Brad to shower, then it will be my turn. It will be nice to get into a comfortable gown and do some more reading before bedtime. I have clean dishes to take out of the dishwasher and I’m caught up on laundry. Nothing else to do today.

Have a blessed Wednesday night, ya’ll.

I am a Native Texan, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Catholic Convert residing in rural North East Texas since 1975 when I married my husband and this small town girl became a country girl. I was taught to knit at the age of ten and discovered the writings of Elizabeth Zimmerman shortly after I married. I learned to ‘unvent’ things as I went along, to create my own patterns and generally have a blast with yarn and needles. In the mid 1980’s I explored the idea of spinning my own yarn and eventually got interested in weaving on a floor loom. I have three spinning wheels and a 24″ four-shaft Herald floor loom that I purchased from a friend in the 1990’s. I also enjoy sewing, tatting and making rosaries. I have a work room that contains my fiber, yarn, floor loom, sewing machines, serger and rosary making supplies. I have a spinning corner in a bedroom next to my work room, both with north windows looking toward the creek.
