There Is No Local News Anymore

Rant alert!

I used to watch the top local news station in our area, KXII, until they went all ‘woke’ with propagating the Left’s lies about Jan 6, 2021. So, I switched my browser homepage to the other local station, KTEN, until they came up with this nonsense: “Fact Check: The various flavors of dishonesty that GOP candidates used to promote 2020 election lies this month”

OK. I’m done. To hell with local news. I changed my homepage to OAN. We’ll see how long they manage to stay in business with the attacks they are under lately. I’m getting really weary of the bias crap everywhere I look. I never thought the day would come when I couldn’t even trust a small town, local news station to be unbiased. Except, they aren’t. Small town that is. KXII is owned by Gray Television. In Atlanta, GA. And KTEN is owned by Lockwood Broadcasting in Richmond, VA. (On another note: I can’t even get the news online from Fox anymore, even if I wanted to, because they block me viewing it due to my AdBlock software.)

We stopped subscribing to, or even reading, the local paper over thirty years ago when we got tired of reading the outright lies that they printed regarding the police reports. Brad was personally involved with many of those cases when he was with Sherman PD. He knew what the truth was, what was in the reports that were made available to the public. But, apparently the truth wasn’t interesting enough to the paper. We got tired of paying to be lied to and dropped our subscription and haven’t so much as looked at another issue of the Herald Democrat. Btw, there used to be two local papers: The Denison Herald and the Sherman Democrat. The two papers merged in 1996 to become the Herald Democrat, based in Sherman.

Rant over.

We awoke to 21° with overcast skies and fog this morning, and a fine coating of ice on everything outside. It’s up to 27° now and should reach 32° later this afternoon. Tomorrow afternoon it should be in the low 40’s. Son-in-law, David, stayed home at the farm today and didn’t try to drive to Dallas to work, barely made it home last night from a job. Audrey has been out tending to the cattle and assuring Grover, the Charolais bull, that he is still loved. He was pouting yesterday when she didn’t spend time giving his butt a good scratching like she usually does. He actually turned his back to her and ignored her. But, everything is back to normal today!

Today is Brad’s birthday. He is 69 now. I’m going to make him a pan of blueberry crisp later. We are enjoying being home, snug and warm, not having to get out for anything.

I’m going to work on my knitting and try to find something to watch on streaming video. I have no interest is watching the chaos in Ukraine at the moment. The whole world saw this coming with Resident Biden in the White House.

Stay warm and have a blessed Thursday, ya’ll. Pray for the people of Ukraine. They don’t deserve this.

Fine coating of ice on the trees.
Even the dandelions have a coating of ice!

I am a Native Texan, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Catholic Convert residing in rural North East Texas since 1975 when I married my husband and this small town girl became a country girl. I was taught to knit at the age of ten and discovered the writings of Elizabeth Zimmerman shortly after I married. I learned to ‘unvent’ things as I went along, to create my own patterns and generally have a blast with yarn and needles. In the mid 1980’s I explored the idea of spinning my own yarn and eventually got interested in weaving on a floor loom. I have three spinning wheels and a 24″ four-shaft Herald floor loom that I purchased from a friend in the 1990’s. I also enjoy sewing, tatting and making rosaries. I have a work room that contains my fiber, yarn, floor loom, sewing machines, serger and rosary making supplies. I have a spinning corner in a bedroom next to my work room, both with north windows looking toward the creek.
