Grandad’s Day Out With The Boys

Brad picked up the two older grandsons today and ran errands then took them to Chick Fil A for lunch before bringing them out to our house for the afternoon. They got to go to two gun shops and were thrilled. It was a gorgeous, sunny day and perfect for them to come out to visit.

Joshua and Jacob had a blast and I think their grandad did as well. They are very energetic little boys. Joshua will be 11 in a couple of weeks and Jacob is 8. Their mother and two older sisters enjoyed a girls day at home, playing music, cleaning house and working on their knitting projects. I’m sure baby Gabriel had a good time as well.

Brad had the bed of the pickup loaded down with stuff that he had cleaned out of his shop and no longer needed. Audrey was thrilled and quickly had it all sorted. There is still a rather large air compressor, that won’t work anymore, that needs to go to the farm. I’m sure David could find a use for it and I bet he can get it running again.

The boys really enjoyed going down to the shop with Brad this afternoon and running around the yard. They have plenty of room to run and play, they just have to be on the lookout for armadillo holes. A couple of them are deep and we need to fill them in again. We don’t need any more broken ankles in this family…

I’m hoping to get my brown potholder finished before bedtime tonight, then I need to finish the blue one before getting back to my knitting. I really need to finish a couple of pair of socks that only need the ribbing done.

I finally got a good photo of the afghan I knitted for Brad a couple of years ago. It completely covers the top of the full size bed and is perfect for him, all 6’3″ of him, in his recliner. He loves it.

I got busy with things around the house and forgot to catch Bongino’s podcast so I’ll do that after Brad heads off to bed in awhile, and work on my crocheting while I watch the podcast.

The boys were going through our DVD collection and came across my Doctor Who discs. It’s been awhile since I had my own Doctor Who marathon. I love the 10th and 11th Doctors and some of the 12th Doctor’s episodes. Don’t care for the female Doctor. Seems she will be leaving soon.

I am a Native Texan, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Catholic Convert residing in rural North East Texas since 1975 when I married my husband and this small town girl became a country girl. I was taught to knit at the age of ten and discovered the writings of Elizabeth Zimmerman shortly after I married. I learned to ‘unvent’ things as I went along, to create my own patterns and generally have a blast with yarn and needles. In the mid 1980’s I explored the idea of spinning my own yarn and eventually got interested in weaving on a floor loom. I have three spinning wheels and a 24″ four-shaft Herald floor loom that I purchased from a friend in the 1990’s. I also enjoy sewing, tatting and making rosaries. I have a work room that contains my fiber, yarn, floor loom, sewing machines, serger and rosary making supplies. I have a spinning corner in a bedroom next to my work room, both with north windows looking toward the creek.
