Sweater Progress

I have four more decrease rounds and then I start the cuff on the second sleeve. It’s coming along nicely today and I should be close to finishing it before bedtime.

At this point the 24″ needle is a bit long so I’m working with two 24″ needles now…

It’s a bit like working with two straight needles in that I knit the stitches off of one 24″ needle with the second needle.

Good news on the laptop front with Brad’s computer. Nothing seriously wrong, just a lot of updates. He’s been letting his laptop go to sleep at the end of the day and he had a lot of updates that required restarting to finish. It’s all done now and he is a happy camper once again.

Speaking of laptops, I figured out how to disable the camera app on my laptop. I never use it and it bugs me that someone could gain remote access to my computer so I got to tinkering around and simply turned off everything to do with the camera app. Hopefully, with that turned off and the security and VPN on my laptop I won’t have any problems.

Brad is doing great. He woke up feeling so much better this morning, not much congestion at all, and very little coughing. He ran errands and picked up our grocery order and a package at the post office, saving me a trip to town. I ordered an extra set of flannel sheets for the queen size bed and they arrived today. Brad likes flannel, I prefer Egyptian cotton. I have two sets of sheets from My Pillow for the full size bed and I needed a second set for the other bed that I ordered from Land’s End. I’m still looking for bedspreads for both beds and dust ruffles won’t work with the adjustable beds.

There is a new calf at the farm and her name is Ziva. Big Momma is doing well and is much calmer than she was three years ago when it came to having calves. She would take off for the creek and be gone for a week and charge anyone who came near the calf. Audrey is putting the expectant cows in the lot near the barn now and it’s helping a lot. Big Momma let Audrey handle the calf while she munched on cubes and even licked Audrey on the face!

There is one more cow due to calve soon. Silverbell should be up at the barn by now.

She is one cranky cow right now, bless her heart.

I am a Native Texan, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Catholic Convert residing in rural North East Texas since 1975 when I married my husband and this small town girl became a country girl. I was taught to knit at the age of ten and discovered the writings of Elizabeth Zimmerman shortly after I married. I learned to ‘unvent’ things as I went along, to create my own patterns and generally have a blast with yarn and needles. In the mid 1980’s I explored the idea of spinning my own yarn and eventually got interested in weaving on a floor loom. I have three spinning wheels and a 24″ four-shaft Herald floor loom that I purchased from a friend in the 1990’s. I also enjoy sewing, tatting and making rosaries. I have a work room that contains my fiber, yarn, floor loom, sewing machines, serger and rosary making supplies. I have a spinning corner in a bedroom next to my work room, both with north windows looking toward the creek.
