Small Inconveniences

We went to town for an afternoon appointment yesterday and when we got home we had no TV cable connection. We have internet, but no cable TV. Not a big thing since we can still watch streaming video via Roku and a repair person will be out sometime this morning.

We watched the second episode of a police drama on Acorn TV last night: Manhunt: The Night Stalker, with Martin Clunes as DCI Colin Sutton, a real life UK investigator. The first series, Manhunt, was three episodes about a serial killer in London. Night Stalker is about a serial burglar/rapist in London. It is a very well made series and we are enjoying it.

We were able to watch all of the current Season 22 episodes of Midsomer Murders, also on Acorn TV. There are six episodes in Season 22 and the last one aired on Oct. 18th.

His and Hers coffee mugs and fresh eggs from the family farm.

The wire egg baskets I ordered arrived yesterday and it will make storing fresh eggs at room temperature much better. I’ll take the larger basket out to the farm for our daughter. This one can hold two dozen eggs and the larger one will hold five dozen.

I have an appointment on Thursday morning to meet my new pulmonary specialist. He’s in the same building as our primary care physician so that is convenient. I get to wear the dreaded face diaper to get thru the front entrance and up to his office on the second floor. I hope the elevators are working properly again. I could take the stairs to the second floor and then my ankle would complain about it for the rest of the day and I would have trouble breathing thru that stupid mask.

I’m past due for a breathing test and chest x-ray all because of this covid crap. I’ll get the face diaper off as soon as I can to avoid a possible anxiety reaction. It won’t do me any good to go for evaluation and testing for my asthma if I’m on the verge of an anxiety attack from the stupid face diaper. Sigh. Mainly, I need a specialist to keep on top of lung function and up to date on medications. I’ll be needing a refill on one of them soon.

I’ve been really fortunate with my health. Yes, I have health issues, but so far everything is treatable and not life threatening. I still need to reschedule with my eye specialist and my dentist. I had the worst case of allergy symptoms, runny eyes, the whole rigmarole. I knew it wouldn’t do any good to try to take an eye exam with gunk in my left eye that kept me from seeing clearly, but that is cleared up. Same with the dentist: no sense in going in for teeth cleaning with sinus drainage driving me nuts.

I’ll wait until after the visit with the pulmonary specialist and then reschedule the other stuff. Both the eye specialist and the dentist are close to my chiropractor on the same side of town and there is a Walmart Market across the street if I need to stop for a few things on my way home.

I did an online grocery order with Albertson’s yesterday. We didn’t need much but it beat walking through the store for the few things we needed. Sometimes I enjoy the exercise and once in a while I run into someone I haven’t seen in awhile.

I am literally inches away from finishing this sampler scarf. Thought I would get it done while we were in town yesterday or at least by bedtime last night. Today is the day!!!

Sampler Scarf rolled up on edge.

I am a Native Texan, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Catholic Convert residing in rural North East Texas since 1975 when I married my husband and this small town girl became a country girl. I was taught to knit at the age of ten and discovered the writings of Elizabeth Zimmerman shortly after I married. I learned to ‘unvent’ things as I went along, to create my own patterns and generally have a blast with yarn and needles. In the mid 1980’s I explored the idea of spinning my own yarn and eventually got interested in weaving on a floor loom. I have three spinning wheels and a 24″ four-shaft Herald floor loom that I purchased from a friend in the 1990’s. I also enjoy sewing, tatting and making rosaries. I have a work room that contains my fiber, yarn, floor loom, sewing machines, serger and rosary making supplies. I have a spinning corner in a bedroom next to my work room, both with north windows looking toward the creek.
