Up Before The Sun Again

We had a great weekend and enjoyed taking gifts to our daughter for her birthday. I had picked out a nice bouquet of fall blooms, Brad gave her a shoulder holster for her Glock and I gave her my father’s old wooden Navy footlocker from 1942. It had been repainted several times over the years, serving as a toy box when my brother and I were kids and eventually became my hope chest as a teenager. I had begun refinishing it years ago and ran out of steam. I’m sure David will have it looking good as new in no time. Being a Navy veteran herself I knew she would enjoy having her grandfather’s footlocker.

I think the mosquitos found me last night. I woke up scratching at a spot on my left arm and now I need to get the Purification Oil out. First, I’ll have a hot shower and get the kinks out of my spine. I’ve got some chores to take care of around the house today and Brad needs to drop his pickup off to have new struts installed. There is a nice little restaurant next door to the garage where he is taking the truck and I suggested he check it out for breakfast. He’s eaten lunch there before but I think it would be a nice place to meet one or two of his buddies for coffee on occasion. I can pick him up and bring him home if it’s going to take some time for them to do the work.

I’ve been doing pretty well with my detox, all things considered. I do miss coffee in the mornings and one morning I caved and had a cup, but I’ve managed to do pretty well this time around and I’m enjoying the increase in energy. I’ve been active enough the past several days to aggravate my cranky ankle but it feels pretty good this morning. I’m going to walk out and take the chain down at the road as soon as I finish this post, and the sun is up enough for me to see the spider webs as I walk down the driveway. I hate those things, lol.

I might as well do that before I shower. I’ll put some mosquito repellent on and wear long sleeves so I’m not ‘skeeter breakfast. It’s so nice to wake up in the mornings and not dread getting out of bed because I haven’t had enough sleep. Actually, I slept in the recliner last night. My back was bothering me and I just can’t find a comfortable spot in the bed. I really need to replace it.

Well, time to get moving! I have stuff to do…

I am a Native Texan, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Catholic Convert residing in rural North East Texas since 1975 when I married my husband and this small town girl became a country girl. I was taught to knit at the age of ten and discovered the writings of Elizabeth Zimmerman shortly after I married. I learned to ‘unvent’ things as I went along, to create my own patterns and generally have a blast with yarn and needles. In the mid 1980’s I explored the idea of spinning my own yarn and eventually got interested in weaving on a floor loom. I have three spinning wheels and a 24″ four-shaft Herald floor loom that I purchased from a friend in the 1990’s. I also enjoy sewing, tatting and making rosaries. I have a work room that contains my fiber, yarn, floor loom, sewing machines, serger and rosary making supplies. I have a spinning corner in a bedroom next to my work room, both with north windows looking toward the creek.
