Not Quite Autumn

The weather has been teasing us lately here in NE Texas. The mornings are in the mid 60’s but warming up to the low 90’s during the day. Next week we should be below 90° at long last. This week might be the last time we need to have the yard mowed for the season.

Looks like I’ve spent too much time knitting and working at my laptop lately and my right hand and shoulder are bugging me again. Guess I’ll limit both activities for a few days and let it calm down. I’ve got plenty of reading to do in between household chores and errands. I have a grocery order ready to pick up this morning and I might just go by the coffee shop and bring home some breakfast sandwiches.

We had a death in the law enforcement community last night but the name of the Grayson County deputy has not been released. There was a foot chase and altercation and the deputy collapsed and died. The deputy was an investigator with twenty years experience with GCSO and I have no doubt that Brad is acquainted with whomever it is.

It’s 7:30 am and I’m going to get dressed and head out to pick up groceries and breakfast and I may post something else later in the day. I need food and coffee!

I am a Native Texan, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Catholic Convert residing in rural North East Texas since 1975 when I married my husband and this small town girl became a country girl. I was taught to knit at the age of ten and discovered the writings of Elizabeth Zimmerman shortly after I married. I learned to ‘unvent’ things as I went along, to create my own patterns and generally have a blast with yarn and needles. In the mid 1980’s I explored the idea of spinning my own yarn and eventually got interested in weaving on a floor loom. I have three spinning wheels and a 24″ four-shaft Herald floor loom that I purchased from a friend in the 1990’s. I also enjoy sewing, tatting and making rosaries. I have a work room that contains my fiber, yarn, floor loom, sewing machines, serger and rosary making supplies. I have a spinning corner in a bedroom next to my work room, both with north windows looking toward the creek.
