It’s RED Friday, Remember Everyone Deployed

While we go through our busy days let’s stop and remember our deployed men and women of the United States Military on RED Friday. We owe them much and they need our support.

Not much to report on the home front. Still feeling a bit tired from the massage and chiropractic adjustment on Wednesday. We had a storm cell blow through yesterday evening but most of it was in Oklahoma and we barely got a drop of rain.

For some reason the last couple of inches on the pair of Stroll socks seems to be taking a long time to finish. Maybe I’m just antsy to move on to the ribbing on the next pair. In any case I hope to have them finished this evening.

I need to find a non-stick pan that I can use on my hotplate to make the play dough for the grand-kids. I got the bag of cream of tartar and the gel food coloring in the mail today. I’ve got plenty of flour, salt and oil. I haven’t been to Walmart in ages and I may drop by tomorrow and buy a pan. I’m out of lemons and a couple of other things but I think I’d rather put in an online order with Albertson’s and pick it up on the way back from Walmart.

I am a Native Texan, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Catholic Convert residing in rural North East Texas since 1975 when I married my husband and this small town girl became a country girl. I was taught to knit at the age of ten and discovered the writings of Elizabeth Zimmerman shortly after I married. I learned to ‘unvent’ things as I went along, to create my own patterns and generally have a blast with yarn and needles. In the mid 1980’s I explored the idea of spinning my own yarn and eventually got interested in weaving on a floor loom. I have three spinning wheels and a 24″ four-shaft Herald floor loom that I purchased from a friend in the 1990’s. I also enjoy sewing, tatting and making rosaries. I have a work room that contains my fiber, yarn, floor loom, sewing machines, serger and rosary making supplies. I have a spinning corner in a bedroom next to my work room, both with north windows looking toward the creek.
