Cool Front in August

Yesterday was so nice after the rain the evening before. The temperature stayed down in the 80’s and the humidity was low. We’ll take all of those days we can get! It just makes me long for nights in the 60’s and days in the 70’s.

Our resident hawk lost his snack when the snake he caught got away from him as he was flying up to his perch. And he didn’t go back and try to retrieve it either! Fair sized snake from what I could see. Looked like a water snake with the charcoal grey back and pale yellow belly. They keep the rodents in check. So does the hawk for that matter…

Brad got to visit the chiropractor yesterday afternoon for the first time since the shoulder surgery and Randy recommended the muscle stem treatment which did a lot of good. Right after that appointment he had PT and I had his polar cube ready to go, nice and cold when he got home. That thing is such a blessing!

This illustration shows the knee pad. Ours came with a shoulder pad. Click on the photo to take you to the Breg website.

One of the nurses, the first time around with his right shoulder a couple of years ago, said to freeze bottles of drinking water and use four of them instead of ice cubes. Absolute genius! We keep extra bottles in the freezer so we can swap them out. It stays cold longer and a lot less mess to deal with. Just pop the bottles of frozen water in the cube and fill with water to the line and Ta Da!

I thought I had my Deposit Photos payment taken care of. Guess what? The bloomin’ thing showed up as a Paypal payment again! Arrggghhhh! I think it was because the credit card I use the most is the same card that is linked to the Paypal account. So. I linked a different credit card through another company with the Paypal account for now. I’ll let that monthly payment renew a couple of times on the other card then switch back to my preferred credit card, which is no longer linked to the Paypal account, for my Deposit Photos monthly payment. Then I’ll wait for several months when there has been no activity on that Paypal account and close it. Sounds easy, huh? We shall see.

I still have a couple of inches to go on the ribbing for the Stroll socks and hope to have that done in the next day or two. My wrist is fine after taking it easy for a couple of days and knitting didn’t bother me at all this morning.

I’ve been catching up on laundry and the dryer is calling me. Again.

I am a Native Texan, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Catholic Convert residing in rural North East Texas since 1975 when I married my husband and this small town girl became a country girl. I was taught to knit at the age of ten and discovered the writings of Elizabeth Zimmerman shortly after I married. I learned to ‘unvent’ things as I went along, to create my own patterns and generally have a blast with yarn and needles. In the mid 1980’s I explored the idea of spinning my own yarn and eventually got interested in weaving on a floor loom. I have three spinning wheels and a 24″ four-shaft Herald floor loom that I purchased from a friend in the 1990’s. I also enjoy sewing, tatting and making rosaries. I have a work room that contains my fiber, yarn, floor loom, sewing machines, serger and rosary making supplies. I have a spinning corner in a bedroom next to my work room, both with north windows looking toward the creek.
